From day 1, Stride Consulting has put diversity and inclusion at the forefront and it has paid off in spades. Let me be clear - diversity is not simply a gender issue. Truly diverse teams have people that bring a rainbow of perspectives and experiences to the table. Truly diverse teams are made up of individuals of various gender, age, race, religion, hometowns, favorite breakfast food, etc.
When I let people in on the fact that diverse teams are 3 times smarter and 35% more productive than homogenous teams, they rush out and try to hire diverse individuals. But, diversity doesn’t start with hiring, it ends with hiring. Before you can hire more people onto your team, you first have to create a safe and equal working environment for everyone who already exists on your team.
