How to Never be Late to a Meeting Again

How to Never be Late to a Meeting Again
Down Arrow

I know we’re all busy. And, I know sometimes things happen and you get stuck on the 1 train. But, most of the time, we should be able to make it to our meetings on time. Here are a few tips to help get you started:

Schedule Travel Time on Your Calendar

I schedule 30-60 minute travel time to and from every meeting I have that’s outside the office. If a meeting is 15 away, I schedule 30 minutes. By the time I get my coat on, go down the elevator, get to the other building, check in with security, and go up to the floor, that 15 minutes easily turns into 25 minutes.

Always know the Cell phone number of the person you are meeting

This way, in the rare case that you are late, you can let them know. If your current meeting is looking like it will run long, say “Excuse me, I have to email or text my next meeting to let them know I am running over.”

End meetings a couple of minutes early to give yourself some breathing room.

If I’m in 30-minute meetings back to back, I’ll start off the meeting by saying “I’ve got another meeting in 30 minutes so let’s keep this meeting to 25 so I can take a quick break in between.”

Thanks for listening! What tips do you have for showing up to meetings on time? I want to hear from you. Leave your comments below or mail me at askdebbie@stridenyc.com
